I am a research scientist and R&D leader with deep training in the chemical and biological sciences and nearly 20 years of experience spanning organic synthesis, peptide chemistry, analytical chemistry, and drug discovery. My work focuses on connecting traditionally siloed disciplines to accelerate molecular discovery and optimise molecular design.
I trained extensively in multistep organic synthesis, mass spectrometry, spectroscopy, chromatography, and both manual and automated solid-phase peptide synthesis. Over time, I expanded my technical skills by integrating advanced statistics, structural bioinformatics, and machine learning into natural product and peptide drug discovery programs. These efforts supported multiple public–private collaborations targeting kinases, GPCRs, transcription factors, and phenotypic screening campaigns across cancer, metabolic disease, neurodegeneration, infectious diseases, and antimicrobial resistance.
Between 2017 and 2024, I led an independent research laboratory at the Centre for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute (CINVESTAV-IPN) in Mexico, operating at the intersection of protein engineering, AI-driven drug discovery, and synthetic biology to develop peptide therapeutics. In this setting, my group designed and implemented lean, end-to-end statistical and machine learning pipelines for peptide discovery, including sequence generation, property prediction, representation learning, and strategies to address data scarcity and experimental bias.
After returning to Australia, I founded Ingenie Bio, a consulting and R&D services company supporting academic groups and biotechnology companies in AI-enabled molecular design. In parallel, I am exploring senior R&D leadership roles across academia, AI-driven biotech startups, and the pharmaceutical sector. In parallel, I am exploring senior R&D leadership roles across academia, AI-driven biotech startups, and the pharmaceutical sector. My expertise is readily extends adjacent domains such as animal health, agriculture, materials science, and sustainability. I welcome conversations around collaboration, advisory engagement, or research leadership opportunities.
